Hundreds of new jobs may be coming to Tulare

TULARE, Calif.

City staff is recommending the Tulare Planning Commissioners approve an application by Western Pacific Meat packing to build a beef harvesting and processing plant.

The three-building facility would be built on a 70-acre piece of land at the corner of Paige Avenue and Enterprise Street, and would include a cold storage and freezer facility.

The project was originally approved by the city council in 2008, but was slowed by legal action.

The plant is expected to create about 200 new jobs. The recommendation goes before the planning commission Monday night.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. It takes place at the council chambers on M Street in Tulare.
