Farmers dealing with a lack of rain in the South Valley could soon get some much needed help.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has declared Kings County a natural disaster area because of drought conditions.

That means farmers there are eligible for emergency loans through the USDA's Farm Service Agency. Congressman David Valadao is now trying to spread awareness about the federal assistance.

"We are getting the word out so people know what is available to them but also reminding people in the rest of the world we have a problem in the Valley and we really have to get it resolved," Valadao said.
