A homeowner in Northeast Fresno walked into his house and stumbled upon thieves stealing his guns. That finding kicked off a chase that ended with officers drawing their guns.

Police tell us on Monday evening three men broke into an apartment at Pine Tree Village. The homeowners walked in and caught them rummaging through his things. Investigators say the men were trying to steal several guns and ammunition. They even stole one handgun before running away. The gun was later recovered.

Two suspects were caught a short while later. But police say one burglar ran into a nearby neighborhood and hid inside a home for a short time. Detectives say it was a team effort to arrest all three. "It was outstanding police work but we also had the help from neighbors here which eventually led to the arrest of the suspects," said Sgt. John Romo.

No one was hurt. Police are reminding people to lock their windows and doors and to call them if you see anything suspicious.
