Homeless people offered help in Merced

FRESNO, Calif.

Several organizations and volunteers donated their skills to more than 250 people in need. The third annual event is part of the Merced Region Continuum of Care's 10 year plan to end homelessness.

Many who attended the event said the services were greatly appreciated and made them feel a part of the community.

"We get free lunch, we get all kinds of helps with jobs, social security, free haircuts, free medical checkups, we get everything you can ask for that people who can afford it for people who can't afford it. said Allen Mchugh, homeless.

Organizers said it is important for the community to show homeless people compassion as many of them are victims of unfortunate circumstances out of their control.
