Contestants from up and down the state are in the Central Valley for the 2013 pageant.
Monday contestants spent some time meeting with various members of the Rotary Club. There are 61 young women participating in the 2013 pageant. Tuesday preliminary competitions begin, and will run through Friday at the Saroyan Theater.
"These contestants are so talented they are here to get scholarships. Every girl will get at least $1,500 in scholarship money," said Leah Cecil Miss California 2012.
The 2013 Miss California will be crowned Saturday. The Miss California Outstanding Teen will be crowned on Friday. Tickets are available for anyone interested in attending each day of the preliminary competitions, which are held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
