Fresno Unified luncheon raises money for scholarships

FRESNO, Calif.

The scholarship luncheon drive is a high priority for Fresno Unified as 80 percent of Fresno Unified students live at or below the poverty line.

Superintendent Michael Hanson spoke at Monday's luncheon, giving an overview of plans for the year ahead. He also explained how events like these are important for the students who want to further their education, but don't have the resources they need.

Last year the Fresno Unified School District provided 25 scholarships to district graduates.
