HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- According to Hanford police, an 11-year-old boy was found hungry and extremely dirty after his mother abandons him in Hanford.

The boy was found after police received a call about a juvenile acting suspiciously in the 400 block of West Florinda. The boy said his mother told him to leave the motel they were currently staying at.

The boy was taken by Kings County CPS.

The mother, Linda Mitchell, was eventually found and booked into the Kings County Jail for child endangerment.
