Coarsegold Medical Clinic closing its doors to patients by end of month
Medical care is just a short drive away for the people of Coarsegold.

COARSEGOLD, Calif. (KFSN) -- Medical care is just a short drive away for the people of Coarsegold. However, that will change when the only clinic in town is closing its doors.

"I don't know what we're going to do. People need a place to go to," said patient Kenneth Close.

A letter on the door of the Coarsegold Medical Clinic says both the Coarsegold location and the Prather location will stop seeing patients by the end of next week.

Close, 80, says he often has issues with his legs and visits the clinic to get them checked.

Without it, he will have to see if any doctors are accepting new patients in Fresno or Madera.

"That seems to be the problem. The doctors have so many people that they don't have room for new patients, so I don't what we're going to do," said Close.

One of the owners of the building, Dr. A.P. Sidhu, was forced to close the clinic because he was not making enough money to keep it open.

"I have people calling me, seniors asking where are we going to go what are we going to do. We do have three major people bidding on for it right now. Hopefully, we can have an easy transition," said building owner Diane Boland.

The clinic has only been open for a couple of years. Yet several employees are now being told they are out of a job, while patients are just now learning about the closure.

"I had a stroke recently, and uh you know, this is a situation where I need diff medication and different referrals, and this was really convenient," said patient Brian Huffstutler.

The other medical services at the health center will remain open. Meanwhile, patients are now left wondering where they will go to find care.
