Fresno police locked down several schools around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after an officer-involved shooting outside the Ross Dress for Less near Shaw and First. Police say two officers spotted a man matching the description of a wanted parolee. Investigators say the man tried to stab the officers and that's when they shot at him.

Police followed the suspect after he jumped into a van. That van crashed at Cedar and Shields. The suspect is now in critical condition, but it's unclear if he was shot. Police are still trying to locate three others who were spotted with the suspect. The school lockdowns were lifted around 3:30 p.m.
