Fresno Graduation Rate is Higher than Average

A number of the biggest cities in the U.S. have failing grades when it comes to students graduating from high school.A new report released by "America's Promise Alliance" found 17 of the nation's 50 largest cities had high school graduation rates lower than 50% percent.

Fresno is just slightly higher than the average.

Mesa, Arizona has the highest graduation rate at 77% percent for students in the Mesa Unified School District.

70% percent of the students in San Jose Unified finish high school.

Fresno came in 23rd, with a graduation rate of 57% percent. That's 6% percent higher than the average.

The city with the lowest graduation rate, Detroit, has a graduation rate of 24% percent.
