Selma Mayor Remembered

7/26/2008 Selma, CA Flags are flying at half staff outside of Selma's city hall, in honor of Don Tow, who was serving his second term as mayor. Tow died Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Saturday, he was remembered as a councilmember who wasn't only focused on the day-to-day operations of the city, but also the "bigger picture" -- and the quality of life for future generations. Dennis Lujan, Mayor Pro-Tem, says "He's one of the finest mayors the city of Selma has ever had. He was beloved by the community. He'll never be replaced, he'll never be forgotten."

D.B. Heusser, Selma City Manager, says "We grieve that we lost a good friend. Selma lost a very good friend."

Selma's mayor pro-tem will now act as mayor and city council members have 30 days to appoint someone to fill Tow's council seat.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 at Selma's First Baptist church at First and Grant.
