Five Blackwater Guards Surrender

Fresno, CA The guards were indicted for killing 17 Iraqi civilians, in Baghdad, two years ago. The Justice Department charged the men with manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, and using a machine gun in a crime of violence.

By surrendering in Utah, the guards can argue the trial should be held there, not in Washington D.C., were they were charged.

Also on Monday, a sixth guard admitted in a plea deal to killing at least one Iraqi in the shooting. Blackwater is the largest U.S. security contractor in Iraq.
