Fire alarms eventually went off and all 300 people inside the church got out safely. But the attic isn't easily accessible, so firefighters say they had a hard time fighting the fire and the flames burned through the top half of the church.
Attendance at the church today was higher than usual because of a national teleconference with Mormon Church leaders in Utah.
Ruby Bondwornick, churchgoer said, "Because we were having a state conference, I figured it'd be a good chance to go back to my old church. I didn't know it would be for the last time.
Fire investigators know where the fire started, but they're still trying to figure out how.
