Fire Destroys Fresno Home

Fresno, CA "My brother called and said my house was on fire. And the only thing I could think of is my mom being inside you know, so that's my first instinct is to make sure my mom's not inside," said Jason Cramer.

Neighbor Josie De Los Santos said she saw the flames after going outside to feed her dog. She said she immediately yelled out to her husband to help her help their neighbor. "I thought she was burning to death. I got so scared. She's been my neighbor for 26 years," said De Los Santos. Fortunately, the woman wasn't home and neither were other family members. Their pet rabbits and even a pot bellied pig also made it out of the burning home thanks to firefighters.

An Oklahoma firefighter just happened to be driving through the neighborhood when he saw the flames. After knocking on the home's door, he reached for a garden hose to try and put out the fire. "I was getting that front of it put out, but by the time I got that put that out, the tail end had caught the gable on the two story yellow house on fire, and it went to burning," said Glen Rogers.

Firefighters say all the storage space on the property made it a tough firefight. It took more than three dozen firefighters to get it under control. "We had really, three or four fires different fires going on at the same time that were created by the exposure of the garage," said Fresno Fire Chief Randy Bruegman.

Just about everything inside the home was destroyed. But neighbors and family members are still thankful because everyone is okay. "I just thank my lord that's she was safe. That's all that counts," said De Los Santos.
