Search for More Kidnapping Victims at Garrido Home

Contra Costa County Police dogs were helping authorities with the search this morning on the Contra Costa County property. A radar sweep of the property this weekend showed something in the same area two dogs showed interest in last week. So authorities began digging up that area today.

Police said hopes of a happy ending for the families of nine-year-old Michaela Garecht and 13-year-old Ilene Micheloff are quickly fading.

"This is where we're at a really tough part of the operation here because we didn't find anything of significance to solve the case thus far. And now if we find anything it's going to be a tragic ending. So it's difficult to talk about hope at this point," said Lt. Chris Orrey with the Hayward Police Department.

Authorities have brought in archaeological expert to help assist with the dig.
