Officials say the shark that bit her used amazing precision, inflicting a deep enough wound to free the babies without harming them. The mother is also expected to make a full recovery.

New Zealand Aquarium officials didn't even know the shark was pregnant until the other shark bit into her side. They quickly scooped up the four baby sharks and when they treated the mother, they found four more babies in her womb. All eight survived.
