Forget about buying a new pair of sneakers, new research shows running barefoot can be better for you.Scientists at Harvard have found the bare human foot is better able to withstand the impact of running, than cushioned sneakers.

The study found that runners who wear shoes strike the ground heel first, which has a more powerful impact on the foot than runners who go barefoot.

When they run, the foot strikes the ground in a way that triggers less of an impact.
