A police pursuit of the suspects followed shortly after the incident, and it ended with a crash in Mid-City at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Hauser.
Four people are in police custody. Their names have not yet been released.
Police said the victim is in critical condition.
No further information was available. Police have blocked off the Hollywood Hills area as they continue to investigate.
