We have video from the scene where you can see the big rig took the brunt of the damage.
Highway patrol officers said the truck just got stuck on the railroad crossing.
"It happened to be stuck there, its happenstance. This wasn't the case where the truck driver was going around the gates, came to a stop, was unable to clear the intersection at Santa Fe, and due to the length of the truck it was partially on the tracks," said Sgt. Don Coltworthy, California Highway Patrol.
There were 143 people on board, but nobody got hurt and the train sustained just minimal damage.
It was back on the move again within an hour and got to Fresno about 40 minutes late.
