California Health Department: Kettleman City Birth Defect Rate Normal

FRESNO, Calif. According to the California Health Department, Kettleman City had a rate of one birth defect per 100 births between 1987 and 2007, and that is not unusually high.

Kettleman City residents claim the birth defects are connected to the toxic waste dump near the town. The Environmental Protection Agency is also investigating the dump site.
