Kids in the kitchen

Fresno, Calif. The junior league of Fresno teamed up with the west Fresno Boys and Girls Club for the fourth annual "kids in the kitchen" event Saturday and organizers made sure no child left hungry.

The kids made their own snacks at several food stations including peanut butter and banana roll ups, bell pepper bowls, and protein wraps.

The goal is to promote healthy eating and prevent childhood obesity.

"Hopefully the kids will take a new outlook on their eating and what they can choose to eat after school as snacks or just making healthy choices, ways to stay active in the community, and with themselves daily. And hopefully they just had a fun Saturday afternoon," Katie Doherty said.

The kids also got some advice on eating healthy from Miss Fresno County.

And even though there weren't any cookies some of the snacks were designed to satisfy a sweet tooth.
