The Highway Patrol says they were called to Peach and Washington just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. When they arrived on the scene they found a man dead on the road.
Officers say for some reason the man passed out on the road. Two separate cars ended up driving over the man and then took off. But one of the drivers returned to the scene a short time later.
"The second vehicle that struck the body drove home and has since returned. We have inspected the vehicle and have confirmed that he was in fact involved with striking the pedestrian," said Debbie Erickson with the Highway Patrol.
The other driver possibly involved in the accident has contacted Highway Patrol and investigators are now trying to figure out if that person was the first car to hit the man.
