Group says sex ed should start in second grade

FRESNO, Calif.

A health and education group called Advocates for Youth is recommending sex education begin as early as second grade.

They say young kids should know proper names for body parts by second grade and by the end of the fifth grade know that sex is the attraction to either the same or opposite gender.

They say instead of fearing sex ed, teacher and parents should tackle the issues head-on.

The recommendations are non-binding.
