Fresno State's annual Red Wave Classic Junior Livestock Show brings 4H members and high school groups to the university, where they enter the ring and compete in showmanship.
Saturday, the students showed lambs, goats, and steer. The event continues Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
"There's a lot of people that aren't very connected with the agricultural industry, and this is one way they can kinda step into our world, see what we do, see what animals eventually put the food on the table as well as show support to the farmers, to our sponsors," said Red Wave P.R. Chair Kaitlyn j. Milam.
This weekend's livestock show is just the beginning for some of these students and their animals. After this, they may continue to show their animals in other shows -- and some may even keep them as pets.
