Fresno Co prosecutors fighting county over pay and more

FRESNO, Calif.

In December, Fresno County Supervisors voted 3-2 to impose a new contract on prosecutors without any negotiations. The new contract included a 9% pay cut, reduced health and retirement benefits, and the removal of civil service protections.

The three supervisors who voted for the new contract said the cuts are necessary to control the county's budget.

Prosecutors have offered to meet with county negotiators on several occasions, and agree they should take pay cuts, but their efforts have been rejected.

The new contract is scheduled to take effect next week.
