In the event's second year, they're already expecting more people to participate.
On Saturday, May 19 cyclists will ride throughout Fresno and Fresno County, with a portion of the race taking place on Highway 168.
Sunday's half marathon route will start and end at Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno.
Brian Munoz is passionate about running.
"I like the challenge and I like to push myself I never was a big runner and I got into it and I just never stopped really," Munoz said.
Munoz didn't start going the long distances until late last year. Now he's heading to the finish line in this year's Eye-Q California Classic Weekend.
Experts say getting the right sneakers play a big part in a strong finish.
"The energy that your body is putting into your feet is going to need somewhere to go and if it's going into your shoes it's best to come in and get fitted," Mike Munoz of Sole 2 Soul Sports said.
The recommendation is for runners to start training 12 weeks before the marathon, but experts advise people to take it easy during the week leading up to the big day.
"You got to give your muscles your tendons, your ligaments, everything that gets beat up during the long race like that a chance to heal," Mike Munoz said.
Nutrition during the marathon also boosts your results. Easy-to-carry gel packs come in a variety of flavors.
The most important part of this race, organizers say, is just enjoying the journey.
"Our ride is the only ride in California that closes a freeway for 10 miles. Our run is the only run in California that we run through a zoo," Mike Herman of the Eye-Q California Classic Weekend said.
