Crews cap natural gas leak in San Bruno

PG&E crews have capped a natural gas leak after a pipeline ruptured in the same place where a large main exploded in San Bruno back in September 2010.

Around 10:48 a.m. Thursday a 3rd-party contractor construction crew was replacing an 8-inch water line at Glenview Drive and Earl Avenue when a backhoe hit a 2-inch distribution line, causing a gas leak.

PG&E crews responded quickly, arriving on scene around 11 a.m. The leak was capped at 11:24 a.m.

Residents were temporarily ordered to shelter-in-place and then evacuate as precautionary measures.
