Kings River Hardwick Elementary School just north of Hanford at Excelsior and Tenth was hit by wire thieves over the weekend.
Investigators say the suspects broke in and not only took copper wire but also fiber optic cables. The result was a loss of power in 11 of the classrooms.
Repair work will begin early Tuesday morning in hopes of getting everything repaired, and the power back by the end of the day.
