CrossFit competition in the Valley

FRESNO, Calif.

More than 240 athletes from across the country took part in a Cross Fit tournament this weekend. The event kicked off yesterday at the Valdez Hall in downtown Fresno.

Five finalists in each division and a few team categories competed today at this Cross Fit gym in Clovis.

The competition aims to find the most complete athlete with an extreme level of fitness. Kevin Hughes of CrossFit said, "What we're doing is testing their ability to compete across broad times so that we can find out who the most complete fit person is."

The competition is now in its fourth year and has grown in size from the 50 people in the first year.

It now draws participants from Texas and Oregon to the Central Valley. The gym says its overall goal is to promote the sport of fitness.
