A donation from Kaiser Permanente will allow Fresno Unified to purchase more than two thousand asthma inhaler spacers for students.

The plastic spacers increase the amount of medicine that gets into the lungs when an inhaler is used. The donation took place at Addams Elementary School in West Central Fresno where 99 students have been diagnosed with asthma.

The chronic lung disease also affects more than 20 percent of people who live in Fresno. That's one of the highest rates in the state.
