Merced police are still searching for the driver suspected of shooting him.
The deadly incident happened near the intersection of Childs Avenue and Coffee Street on Thursday afternoon. Officers say Goodman pulled over to confront another driver, who had been following him for at least two miles from Highway 99. They say the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the chest.
Investigators are still looking for information on the getaway car and say traffic cameras near the intersection may provide more clues.
