Body found in a field northeast of Reedley

FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- The Fresno County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a suspicious death after a body was found in a field on Saturday morning.

The body was found around 11 a.m. near American Avenue and Navalencia Avenue, northeast of Reedley. Investigators have not released the age or the sex of the victim and the cause of death is unknown.

"It started raining a little harder before they could get out here, so we've already taken some precautions - covering up the body and things like that - so we don't lose the evidence that may be around the body," Jose Salinas with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities believe the body was there since the day before.
