FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A national company is expanding in the Valley. Alorica is looking to hire 400 people.
Employees are testing their skills inside the Alorica center in Northwest Fresno. Every day inside the building, representatives make calls on behalf of several Fortune 500 companies, and now they're expanding.
"We are looking to hire about 400 additional staff. That's going to be customer service representatives, team mangers and potentially other support positions, between our Fresno and Clovis locations," Alorica Regional Talent Acquisition Manager Chris Pitts said.
Pitts says the Valley hosts the only call centers in California, and employees are happy to see positive change. "Our client did ask us to grow a little bit, and we are growing actually at a lot of our sites right now," he said.
The business started in Clovis a few years ago under the name Ryla. Action News got an inside look at the call center during Halloween week. In a few years, that site has grown from 700 workers to 1,700 employees and two locations.
The jobs are positive news for the Valley. Currently the unemployment rate in Fresno is 11.1 percent and in Clovis it's 7.9 percent.
The positions are full-time and pay starts at $9 an hour, and employees can earn incentives after training. Benefits are also available.
Managers say they will host a job fair Saturday at their Fresno location and are looking forward to hiring right on the spot.
"Not often can you say that we're adding additional positions, and we currently already have 1,700 employees, so that will put us as one of the larger employers in town with over 2,000," Pitts said.
Job seekers are urged to come dressed to impress and with a resume.
