FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Loved ones held a candlelight vigil Monday night in Southeast Fresno to honor a woman killed last Friday.

Tonya Shaw, 42, was riding on a motorcycle with a friend when police say an SUV made a left-hand turn in front of them.

Her family and close friends set out these candles and flowers to honor a life tragically taken away.

Emotions drowned out the sound of traffic along Willow and Tulare Monday night, as family and friends stood at the corner - remembering 42-year-old Tonya Shaw.

Shaw and her close friend, Refugio Angel Cedillo, were killed Friday when their motorcycle collided with an SUV.

Her sister now left heartbroken over the tragic loss.

The victim's sister, Sharlaina Weaver said, "We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I thought our lives were going to be together again I thought we were going to be together again and the next think I know she's dead."

Shaw leaves behind a 21-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son. She was also a grandmother to three young boys.

"She was everything to my kids she loved my kids that's all she cared about," the victim's son-in-law, Johnathan McLaurin said.

Throughout the night, loved ones lit candles and placed them near where Shaw died. They even wrote messages and shared stories of the woman many say always put others first.

"She was not alone that is a blessing I don't know you came from and I'm glad you came thank you so much for being so brave I know she appreciated it"

And while they continue to grieve, they are also thinking of Cedillo's family who is wrapped in sorrow too.

"He must've had my sister on his bike because he loved her and he went with her so I'm so sorry for your loss I'm so sorry for your loss"

Action News spoke with Cedillo's son over the phone Monday night. He says his family is still very shaken up over this all but tells us they are appreciative of the support from the community.
