8-year-old killed after mom gets in DUI crash near Los Banos, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman is in the Merced County Jail Monday after a DUI crash that took the life of her 8-year-old son.

The California Highway Patrol arrested 33-year-old Vanessa Bueno of Visalia.

She was driving a car on Highway 165 near Los Banos Sunday afternoon when she lost control of her vehicle and it rolled over.

The CHP says drugs or alcohol appear to be a contributing factor.

Bueno was traveling with her three children.

Her 8-year-old son suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
