FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two students who share the love of music received a prestigious award Tuesday.

Everett Bernal and Ryan Regalado were both honored by the A.J. Parker-Foster Memorial Instrument Award. The project recognizes students for their dedication to music as well as their hard work in the classroom. Everett and Ryan were both presented with their very own trumpet. Which they say will help them for years to come.

The award is in memory of A.J. Parker-Foster, who passed away in 2012, and his family says it helps to carry on his legacy.

"Being able to give these gifts of instruments to these students in A.J.'s name is wonderful. We get together and talk about A.J., think about A.J., and it's wonderful seeing it be carried on year after year," said Sarah Foster, A.J.'s mom

The project allows for this to be done annually for one student, but, this year, an exception was made for both Everett and Ryan.

The award ceremony was held at Arte Americas.
