FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A local man who made national news got some major recognition Thursday night.

Thomas Artiaga rescued Robert Wells from his burning apartment last weekend. And Thursday night, he received some kindness from ABC's Jimmy Kimmel and a special guest -- legendary Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda.

During the meeting, Lasorda read a proclamation that read, "Whereas Thomas Artiaga has exemplified selfless heroism to help a fellow man you. It is my pleasure to proclaim that Thomas and his family will be our guests at a Dodger game next season, and Thomas will throw out the first pitch. From everyone in the Dodger organization, thank you Thomas. You are a true blue hero, and you have a great first name."

Last weekend cell phone video captured Artiaga carrying Wells to safety. The men didn't know each other at the time. Artiaga said it was just the right thing to do.
