FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- "The Day With HIV" photo exhibit opened Thursday at the Fresno Art Museum on First Street and Clinton Avenue.
Organizers of a new HIV exhibit in Fresno hope it will help raise awareness about the disease and encourage people to get tested.
It features pictures that people have taken of themselves. Each snapshot or selfie depicts a day in the life of someone infected or affected by HIV. "There are people in the photos with family, attending weddings, with kids, golfing," disease specialist Gena Adams said. "They are living. This disease does not stop anyone from living, it shouldn't."
The exhibit runs through Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Fresno County Health Department's HIV testing unit will be in the museum parking lot. They are offering free rapid HIV testing Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The results are available in 20 minutes, and they are confidential.
