Dance Studio of Fresno wins big at national competitions

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The owner of the Dance Studio of Fresno says recent victories in national competitions still haven't sunk in yet.

Earlier this month, they were named top studio at the Dance Awards in Las Vegas, where junior and senior level students had to show proficiency in several dance styles, including contemporary and ballet. Owner Sue Sampson-Delena says they had to beat prestigious dance schools from around the country.

The same group of girls won top studio earlier this year at the Youth American Grand Prix in Southern California.

Sampson-Delena says dancing is a way of life, and after 33 years, she still looks forward to working with young dancers every day. "So this group of girls I've got going right now, they're something else," she said. "I mean I have generations of beautiful, beautiful dancers, but I haven't seen us achieve this much in one year, I don't think--ever."

The studio is currently hosting some intensive classes, bringing in students and choreographers from around the country.
