Fresno police search for suspect after attempted robbery at River Park

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are searching for a man after an early morning attempted robbery Friday at River Park.

Thirty-two-year-old Jeremy Lynd is considered armed and dangerous. He is accused of trying to rob a man at a River Park ATM Friday morning, and 31-year-old Bobbie-Sue Alexandra Nicole Sevier is suspected of trying to help him get away.

Lynd was already wanted for a carjacking and armed robbery in Turlock. The burglars driving a stolen white four-door Hyundai made a smashing entrance at Joyeria Herrera before cameras captured a man and woman believed to be Lynd and Sevier. "It was a guy and a girl," store employee Josefina Sanchez said. "And they got off, they just started getting anything they could see."

But they didn't get a whole lot, she collected a few boxes of boots and he got some watches. Hours later, jewelry store workers say they recognized the car involved in a bold ATM robbery in River Park Friday morning. "And I seen that the car looked familiar and because on the passengers side on the bumper was destroyed," Sanchez said. "And they had left three pieces of the car here which we picked up."

Fresno police say a sanitation worker stopped at the EECU machine to get $20 out when he was approached by a man. "When all of the sudden he heard a male voice say 'it sure is cold out here,'" Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said. "As he turned around, the suspect who is a white male, stunned him in the neck with a stun gun and also stunned him in the lower back."

The victim happened to be a former law enforcement officer with 14 years of police experience. Detectives say he pulled out a gun and ordered the suspect to the ground, but that's when officers say Sevier drove up in the getaway car and told Lynd to get in.

She was driving out and ended up striking the victim's vehicle while he was in it. At that point, he felt that he was going to be struck by that vehicle, maneuvered his away around and fired several rounds into the suspect vehicle, one of those rounds penetrated the vehicle and struck the female in the leg.

Officers say both suspects ran, Lynd disappeared into the fog and Sevier ran into a Starbucks but was later arrested.

Investigators say Lynd was wanted for a robbery Monday after a woman was confronted at gunpoint in Turlock. But, evidence left at the scene included his phone and a selfie of him as his screensaver.

Friday morning, another key piece of evidence was found at the Parlier jewelry store, the license plate cover of the stolen car.

Sevier was treated at the hospital and booked into jail, but Lynd is still wanted.

Officers say he is considered armed and dangerous.
