KINGSBURG, Calif. (KFSN) -- It is the simple things that Shandon Gerbrandt and her son Kenneth enjoy in Kingsburg-- and soon, they will be enjoying a farmers market.
"I love local produce, and anything that is home grown and farm grown is better than store bought so I think it's awesome," said Shandon.
Next to the playground, the Kingsburg Community Farmers Market will set up operations at the city's iconic Coffee Pot Park.
"It's exciting that we can come together as a community, buy all the produce, just hang out and get to have that back," said Kaitlyn Groft, Kingsburg Chamber Executive Director.
Groft said the former farmers market dissolved about two years ago.
"It was great, we loved it, but it was very difficult because we are a small town."
The California Fresh Farmers Market is now taking on the task of managing the event and is adding Kingsburg to its growing farmers markets. Peter Deyoung said the Kingsburg Farmers Market will have farmers as well as food purveyors.
"We want the farmers markets and all of the markets to be a delicious experience. So it's not so much about just having fruits and vegetables, you're coming out, it's a family event."
The farmers market is accepting vendors to fill up the event. Deyoung said the group could expand to 50 farmers market by this time next year.
Coffee Pot Park will be bustling with activity and fresh produce when they kick off the first Kingsburg Farmers Market on August 5th at 9:00 a.m.
