80-year-old Riverdale woman dies in Fresno County crash

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol said an 80-year-old Riverdale woman died after being involved in a crash on Laguna Avenue at Highway 41 on Sunday.

Investigators said the woman was traveling west in a Toyota Sienna on Laguna Avenue when she stopped at the stop sign at Highway 41. She then went through the intersection, directly in the path of a Toyota Venza traveling north on Highway 41. The Venza's was traveling at around 55 miles per hour when it crashed into the driver side of the Sienna.

The Riverdale woman in the Sienna was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Venza, 59-year-old Steven Cole of Hayward was also taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The 82-year-old passenger, Mary Cole, was taken to CRMC with major injuries.

The identity of the Riverdale woman has not been released.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
