FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno man is facing felony DUI charges after slamming his truck into a police car.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. Friday in the area of Bullard Avenue and Fig Garden Drive. Investigators say the officers were leaving a nearby apartment complex to respond to a call -- when the truck crashed into them. The officer in the driver seat was pinned in the patrol car. But the one in the passenger seat managed to get out and arrest the driver of the truck.

"Anytime an officer is involved in a collision its treated the same way as a civilian. But due to the severity of the collision and the injured officers, and its unknown if the driver injured, members of the collision reconstruction unit are going to come out," said Lt. Ron Huges, Fresno Police Department.

Both officers were taken to the hospital to be evaluated. They are expected to be okay.
