HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Valley family is grieving after a shooting in Hanford left a young man dead.
Police have identified the victim of this shooting but at this time they are not releasing his name. They are however actively searching for the suspects responsible.
Crime scene tape marks the place where a 25-year-old man in Hanford was shot and killed Friday night.
It happened right next door to a local market where workers inside heard the terrifying 10 rounds of fire.
"We thought it was like fireworks or something, and saw police cars roll up and we knew it was something serious," said Parm Johar, Sierra Liquor.
Detectives are still investigating the shooting that Johar said is rare in his neighborhood.
"For something like this to happen it's just real shocker, you just don't expect it's real low key quiet place."
Friday's homicide is the second of the year for the city of Hanford. The first one happened in March which police said was gang-related.
Julnetta Loggins remembers that murder.
"A guy had got killed, so it's just too much going on lately. So everybody closing, trying to stay at home, be safe."
Hanford police say they are increasing police presence in the area of the shooting to ensure public safety.
"We are targeting that neighborhood with our enforcement efforts to keep it as safe as possible," said Chief Parker Sever, Hanford Police Department.
"It's horrible for that to happen. Obviously, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family whoever the victim is and I hope they find justice," said Johar.
Police are hoping nearby surveillance cameras will help locate the suspects.
