Pickup truck slams into police car in Southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities say a pickup truck crashed into a Fresno police car on Saturday.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. in the area of Kings Canyon and Sierra Vista in Southeast Fresno.

Fresno police say an officer was driving eastbound on Kings Canyon when a pickup truck was making a left turn and slammed into the patrol car. The police car spun into a parked car where a woman was walking, and authorities say she dove in front of it to avoid being hit. The officer and the woman suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say the truck driver is not being held accountable. They believe the setting sun made it impossible for him to see the patrol car.
