Southwest Fresno home burns to the ground

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Southwest Fresno residents witnessed huge flames and heard explosions as crews battled a house fire Friday evening. Fire engulfed an abandoned home near Mayor Avenue and Mariposa Street, sending smoke billowing into the sky.

The home collapsed and burned to the ground, as firefighters worked to keep other nearby homes safe. It took them roughly 20 minutes to put out the flames.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
