Pacheco High School scholarship honors late principal
Pacheco High School in Los Banos is honoring the memory of its founding principal in a very fitting way.

LOS BANOS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A North Valley high school is honoring the memory of its founding principal in a very fitting way.

Staff members from Pacheco High in Los Banos sent Action News some video from the Brett L. Lee Panther Strong Scholarship ceremony. Acting Principal Grace Taylor presented the award to Nick Vermillion on Friday night. She says Vermillion represents strength, honor and the commitment to never quit.

Those are the same attributes Principal Lee was known for, before losing a hard-fought battle with cancer late last year. Lee was Pacheco's first principal back in 2010, and the gym was named after him shortly before he passed away.

Community members sponsored the scholarship, including a $10,000 anonymous donation.
