Hillary Clinton campaign office opens in Fresno as June 7 primary looms

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In one Fresno office, the support for Hillary Clinton is unwavering.

"Good morning Karen, this is Kathleen, I'm a volunteer for the Hillary Clinton campaign in Fresno, California," the volunteer said over the phone.

Kathleen Mckinley is one of the dozens supporting the candidate ahead of the June 7 primary.

"I believe that Hillary is the most qualified candidate that we have," she said. "I deeply, deeply believe that. This is a person that's been fighting the minute she graduated from law school."

The phone banking and gathering of supporters Saturday is part of the grand opening celebration of the only authorized Hillary office in Fresno.

"Gathering supporters together, so that when it came to the time to open a headquarters we would have a core base," Hillary for America, Fresno co-founder Gail Gaston said. "We would have people here to support her and work for her."

"We have a lot of work to do but we will win if we work together," a Clinton supporter told a crowd on the campaign trail.

Clinton isn't the only one eyeing Fresno.

Senator Bernie Sanders will stop in both Visalia and Fresno Sunday.

The response in Fresno was reportedly so good that the campaign moved his rally to the Fresno Fairgrounds.

"You know when you watch TV, they tell you about Action News, right?" Sanders told a crowd in Bakersfield. "So, let me give you a little bit of Action News."

With an eventful stop in Fresno on Friday, Donald Trump is also hoping voters will support his campaign, and it's an exciting time for local constituents no matter what political party they choose.

"We have a diverse population that represents our state of California," Gaston said. "And I think that's why many candidates are stopping here because they want our support."
