FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Sixth grader Ananya Vinay from Fugman Elementary in Clovis Unified is this year's winner of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The bee wrapped up with an intense final round.

Vinay and Rohan Rajeev of Edmonton, Oklahoma outlasted more than 275 other kids.

Vinay secured her spot in the Scripps National Spelling Bee by winning the Fresno County Spell Off in April. She competed last year but didn't place in the top 50.

This time around she said she would be more prepared and clearly she was.
