FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno State broke ground Sunday on a new monument to honor victims of the Armenian Genocide.
The monument will be located south of the Satellite Student Union. Pillars will represent the six provinces of historic Armenia, with an incomplete halo symbolizing the fracture left by the genocide and the unity of the Armenian people.
The monument is being built with private donations and will be dedicated on April 24 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the genocide.
